Add notepad.exe To Your SendTo Menu In Microsoft Windows Vista
Add notepad.exe to the SendTo menu for easier
checking of unknown files. notepad.exe will not execute a virus
in any file so if you are unsure of a file just pop it into notepad.exe
to verify. This can also be used to easily view or edit text files
with file extensions besides the standard .TXT extension.

- Double left-click on Computer from your Start menu
or Desktop.
- The desktop Computer icon is shown above.
- In the Start menu Computer is
just a word listed, you would simply single left-click on the word
Computer from the list of locations on the right
of the Vista's Start menu.

- Double left-click Local Disk (C:).

- Double left-click the Windows folder.

- Scroll through & find notepad.exe.
- Single right-click on notepad.exe.
- Single left-click on Copy from the context menu shown
above.
- This Copy procedure copies the notepad.exe
file to the Windows clipboard for a temporary holding place.

- Press Backspace on the keyboard once to go back a
folder & return to Local Disk (C:).
- Local Disk (C:) is also known as the "root
of the c drive".

- Double left-click the folder containing your user profile.
- If unsure go to Start then Accessories
& then Command Prompt. You can find your
profile name there.

- Double left-click the AppData folder.

- Double left-click the Roaming folder.

- Double left-click the Microsoft folder.

- Double left-click the Windows folder.

- Single right-click on the SendTo folder.

- Single left-click Paste in the context menu that
pops-up as shown here to Paste notepad.exe & add
it to the SendTo menu.

- Single left-click the red X in the top right corner
to close any leftover Windows.
Now when you single right-click
on an object that shows SendTo in it's context menu,
notepad.exe will be an option under SendTo's
pop-up menu.
