Finding your Microsoft Outlook .PST file without using Windows search.
Trying to find your Microsoft Outlook 2000/XP/2003
.PST file? This is one way to find it so you can drag it into a
backup program or copy it. You normally wouldn't want to just
move this file so be careful.
- Click on the Start
button.

- Take note of 2 things. 1) D:\ is the drive
letter where my profile is located. 2) Administrator
is the profile I am currently using. The drive letter or username
are probably different for you. You need the correct directory
information from your computer to find the data contained in your profile.
- Write it down & type exit. Press the Enter
key.
- Go back & left-click on the Start
button & left-click on Run...
- Type the drive letter you found earlier. I would type d:\
to open a new window. (Shown below)

- Double left-click on Documents and Settings.

- Double left-click on the username you found earlier. In my case
Administrator.

- Notice the address bar says the same location that typing cmd
in the Run box brought you to.
- Double left-click on Local Settings. (This
is a hidden folder. You must have followed this
tutorial already or you won't see this folder.

- Double left-click on Application Data. (Notice
the shading, it's another hidden folder.)

- Double left-click on Microsoft.

- Double left-click on Outlook.

- You can copy this file or drag it into your backup program.
87,840 KB means that my .PST file is almost 88 Megabytes. This
means it will still fit on a ZIP disk. Other than that I need
to backup to CD or DVD.
- Note: Outlook needs to be exited for the file to backup properly.
